Mark Your Calendar for These Upcoming VEA Events!

Registration for the VEA's Instruction and Professional Development Conference is now open! The conference this year is built around the Every Student Succeeds Act and is scheduled for November 18-19, 2016 at the Short Pump Hilton Hotel in Richmond. Want to find out more about sessions and who the keynote speaker will be? What would you say to a great FREE opportunity to have fun, learn about the VEA, and bond with new educators? Then SAVE THE DATE for the VEA SPARKS event at Wintergreen Resort! The event is open to educator members who are new to the profession and have little or no experience with the Virginia Education Association. It is a fun, free, and rewarding weekend event! Speaking from experience, you will have a great time!!!

COMING SOON!  The VEA will be holding Regional Pre-Legislative Workshops during the months of October and November. The purpose of the workshop is "to provide local leaders with information on legislative issues" before the 2017 General Assembly. Want to which of your local Delegates and Senators are on key committees? Want to know what the General Assembly will be talking about, especially regarding education issues? Want to attend the VEA Lobby Day? Find out all of this and more at the Pre-Legislative Workshop!
To sign up to attend, contact RCEA President Steve O'Baugh and let him know! Registration is due by Monday, September 26 for our area! Where and when will our workshop be? It will be on Wednesday, October 26,  from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Verona Methodist Church 606 Lee Hwy, Verona, VA.
A half hour before the workshop begins there will be a hearing on VEA Resolutions and suggestions and concerns about the VEA budget.

Welcome to a new school year! The RCEA Officers hope all have gotten off to a great start with the first two weeks. We once again say hello to the newest Rockingham County teachers, whom we enjoyed meeting at the New Teacher Orientation on August 11th at Spotswood High School! If there is anything we can do to help you, or if you want to learn more about our association, please ask! On the right side of this blog are links to the Virginia Education Association, the National Education Association, and the NEA Member Benefits websites. You can also find the contact information for the Rockiangham County Education Association officers as well as the local UniServ Office. Want to become a member?
